Dr. Bernhard von Becker
Dr. Bernhard von Becker studied law in Berlin and Munich between 1985
and 1989. During his time as a legal clerk in Bamberg between 1990 and
1993 he worked - among others - in a Dusseldorf-based corporate law firm
and earned his doctorate with Prof. Canaris on the subject of limited
liability corporations (GmbH-Konzern). Passing the bar in 1993, working
with Pünder, Volhard, Weber & Axster (now Clifford Chance) in
Frankfurt/Main from 1993 to 1994.
Since 1995 with C.H. Beck Publishing (C.H. Beck Verlag), its chief
corporate counsel since 2000 and also its head of the editorial office.
Dr. von Becker is lecturer for media law at the Institute for
Intellectual Property, Competition Law, and Media Law with the
Technische Universität Dresden.
He is a Member of the German Association for Intellectual Property and
Copyright Law (Deutsche Vereinigung für Gewerblichen Rechtsschutz und
Urheberrecht, GRUR), the Literary and Artistic Association (Association
Litteraire et Artistique International, ALAI), the Book Research Society
(Buchwissenschaftliche Gesellschaft), and the German Association of
Specialized Journalists (Deutscher Fachjournalistenverband), as well as
of the Consortium of Publishers' Counsels (Arbeitsgemeinschaft
Verlagsjustiziare) and the Working Committee of Publishing Jurists
(Arbeitskreis Verlagsjuristen).
Dr. von Becker is the author of numerous publications on copyright,
publishing and press law.
