Dr. Christian
Schertz, legal studies in Berlin and Munich, mandatory legal traineeship
in Berlin and New York. 1991 – 1993 working in the legal and
administrative department of RIAS Berlin. Research assistant at the
Institut für Gewerblichen Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht at the Humboldt
Universität Berlin.
Doctoral thesis in 1996 focusing on the commercial evaluation of rights
of privacy and publicity (merchandising). 1995 – 1999 lecturer for press
and media law at the school of law of the Humboldt Universität Berlin.
Since October 2000 lecturer for media law at the
Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen in Potsdam-Babelsberg.
Since 2002 lecturer for media law at the
Electronic Media School, Potsdam. Since 2004 lecturer for media law
at the Freie Universität Berlin. From 1994 lawyer in the area of press,
copyright, and media law. From 1994 until 1997 in Hamburg at the law
firm Senfft, Kersten, Voss-Andrae & Schwenn, from 1997 until the end of
2004 at the law firm Hertin, Berlin (partner from 1999 until 2004). 2005
foundation of his own law firm Schertz Bergmann.
Dr. Schertz consults numerous corporations, publishing companies,
celebrities and other high profile personalities in legal press matters
and issues concerning rights of privacy and publicity. His practice also
comprises the whole spectrum of entertainment law, such as negotiating
extensive artist, advertising and publishing deals.
Dr. Schertz is publisher, author and co-author of numerous manuals
within the area of media law. He regularly publishes Essays in
relevant professional journals (ZUM, AfP, GRUR). Dr. Schertz is member and
contributer of Deutscher Medienrechtstag
(DMRT) and of
Deutsche Vereinigung für Gewerblichen
Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht (GRUR).
